The merger of Gothaer and Barmenia is the groundbreaking first merger of two insurance companies and one of the most complex merger projects of the years 2023 and 2024. Barmenia.Gothaer will be one of the ten largest insurance companies in Germany (together around 7,500 employees).

The commercial law firm Seitz advised Gothaer and Barmenia on employment law issues related to their merger. Following the successful transaction, Seitz will also provide strategic and operational employment and labor law advice on the post-merger integration. One focus here is on developing the future structure of the group and the transformation process.
