An important employment law milestone in the restructuring of BayWa AG was reached in February 2025: An agreement was signed with the central works council in the conciliation committee on the necessary reduction in the workforce of around 1,300 employees, a social plan and a voluntary program that, on the one hand, takes sufficient account of the company's limited financial resources and, on the other hand, provides the employees to be laid off with the best possible social security.
BayWa AG employs around 24,000 people worldwide, around 8,000 of whom work in Germany. The job cuts will affect around 1,300 positions, with approximately 500 of these at the Munich headquarter. Around 25 of the approximately 400 BayWa locations are to be closed.
Seitz was retained in 2023 to restructure BayWa AG in accordance with employment law and has since been advising on the upcoming restructuring in accordance with the Corporate Stabilization and Restructuring Act (“StaRUG”).
